Over the past few years, HTC has grown significantly in the consumer market segment, but enterprise sales have lagged as the iPhone has gained a slightly upper hand within the corporate world. David Jaeger, executive director Global Enterprise and Services at HTC said:
It’s only been really relatively recently that HTC has broken into the enterprise space. We’re driving toward that magic 100-million device number globally. We see IBM as the gold standard for an enterprise partnership. We want to make sure if IBM is talking about Android or tablets, HTC is in the conversation.
While the iPad currently has a huge advantage over Android powered tablets, the little green robot is expected to make a comeback by 2015. We’re not sure how quickly enterprise customers will be able to embrace new platforms and move away from Windows based systems, but we hope HTC’s new move will give them a leg up on other Android OEMs. What we’re really hoping for is HTC and IBM to partner on a Lotus Notes application for Android and Windows Phone which works a lot better than the current Lotus Notes Traveler application which IBM currently offers.
